Year of St. Paul Bible Study
Who is your favorite Saint? In answering, you might mention any number of favorites; like St. Francis, St. Theresa, St. Anthony, St. Elizabeth, etc. How many of us would answer: St. Paul? Yet, the Church is celebrating a whole Jubilee Year of St. Paul! We might wonder why?
Who was St. Paul? Why is he so important to the Church that we are celebrating his 2000th birthday this year? The best way to find the answers to these questions is by studying his writings (letters) found in the New Testament. Our Parish Adult Faith Formation Team is sponsoring a special Bible Study. Dust off your Bibles, and come and join us as we read and study the Letters of St. Paul together.
Please come for the whole series, or join us when you are able. We will meet every other week on Tuesday evenings after the 6 PM Mass (6:45 PM to 8:15 PM). We will also offer the same sessions as part of the regular Wednesday Morning Bible Study – after the 8:30 AM Mass.
We will begin our sessions by using the small inexpensive book: St. Paul, Steward of the Mysteries - A Bible Study Guide for Catholics, by Fr. Mitch Pacwa, SJ (of EWTN fame, and an expert on St. Paul), and other materials. We are planning on continuing with different sessions after the New Year. For now, our schedules of sessions are as follows: September 23rd – Introduction to St. Paul and His Life and Times October 7th – To Be One with Christ: St. Paul on Baptism October 21st – To Be Forgiven: St. Paul on Baptism and Reconciliation November 4th – To Be Sealed with the Holy Spirit: St. Paul on Confirmation November 18th – The Breaking of the Bread: St. Paul on the Eucharist December 2nd – Offering Sacrifice: St. Paul on Holy Orders December 16th – To Become One Flesh: St. Paul on Matrimony
